Photo rules
Updated 26 October 2026. Covers photos that players add to places in the Peplos app.
Who can add photos
A player with an account who has found the place. Before the first upload they accept these rules. Up to three photos per place and ten per day.
What is allowed
Only your own photos of the place. People may appear in the background, but not as the main subject.
What is not allowed
Nudity and sexual content. Violence and blood. Hate symbols and insults. Drugs and weapons. Ads, phone numbers, links, emails, social media handles and QR codes. Screenshots, memes and documents. Other people’s photos. Anything illegal.
How we check
Before a photo is shown, an AI looks at it: Google’s Gemini model. While it is being checked, only the author can see it. The AI rejects clear violations on its own. If it is unsure, a person looks at the photo, usually within a day. A shown photo can go back to a person after a report.
If a photo is rejected or removed
The author sees in the app what happened, why, under which rule and who decided: the AI or a person. An AI decision can be challenged with the “Ask a person” button. A person’s decision can be challenged by writing to hello@peplos.app.
How to report
Every photo has a “Report” button that anyone can use, even without an account. You can also write to hello@peplos.app: say which place and photo, what is wrong and why, and give your name and email. A person reads every report. If a signed-in player says they are in the photo, or three different players report it, the photo is hidden at once until a person decides.
Blocking
We remove violating photos without warning. A person, not the AI, blocks authors who break the rules: they can no longer upload, and all their photos are removed. Any player can hide all photos of an author for themselves.
Rights to the photo
The author keeps the rights to the photo. By uploading, the author lets Peplos show it in the app until they delete it. Player photos are not used to advertise Peplos.
Your data
We strip the location, phone model and time from the file. All players see the photo together with the author’s nickname. More in the privacy policy.
